Kerala, is a picturesque tropical state on the south western tip of India. On this fabulous tour explore the historic Fort Cochin, local life and tranquility at backwaters, spot wild elephants in forests of Periyar and relax on the palm-fringed beaches of magical Kovalam.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1: Cochin
Welcome to Fort Kochi! This thrilling islands is full of Portuguese and Dutch history and has always been the centre for spice trade. Today is an arrival day and there are no planned activities. A pre-departure meeting takes place this evening at the hotel. Afterwards we have the opportunity to go out for an optional group dinner

Day 2: City Tour Cochin
House to the oldest church in India, synagogues and English manor homes, Fort Cochin is an amazing place to walk around. Today morning we have a city tour to explore the wonders of Fort Cochin. In evening, there is an option of watching a traditional dance performance of Kathakali.

Day 3 & 4: Munnar
This beautiful Hill station on the Western Ghats was once a summer resort of the British Government in south India. The town is a walker's paradise with surrounding lakes, reservoirs, forests and several tea estates. During our stay we visit Tea plantation and nearby Eravikulam national park, famous for endangered Nilgiri Mountain Goat

Day 5 & 6: Pariyar
Surrounded by lake this Pariyar National park is one of the largest in India. The park has rich population of Elephants, Spotted Deers, Langurs, Wild Pig, Flying Squirrel and over 250 species of birdlife. We take a cruise around the lake for a more relaxing view of the park and wildlife spotting. You can also go for for naturalist-led walk in search of wildlife and visit to spice & coffee plantation around.

Day 7 & 8: Backwaters
Experience the unmatched beauty of Kerala’s backwater on an island homestay in a traditional house. This place excellent offers a great way to meet the local families ,feast on traditional Keralan food and slip silently through sleepy canals on a boat, as the timeless landscape of Kerala’s backwaters slides by.

Day 9 & 10: Kovalam
Covered with white sand and fringe line of palm trees, Kovalan is Kerala’s most famous beach resort. Join the fishermen in pulling out the net or relax and soak the sun on one of many beach side café. Kovalam is a great place to unwind yourself

Day 11: Kovalam, Tour ends
Free morning to relax on the beach . Tour finishes after breakfast. The check out time is 12:00. Please make sure that you vacate your rooms by 12 Noon .If you require a departure transfer to Trivandrum International Airport please ask your tour leader or front office manager for this

Trip Details

Local Payment: There is a local payment of USD 150 attached to this trip. It sould be paid on day 1 of the tour to your trip leader in Cash/Traveller Cheque in US $ or INR.

Combination Trip: This tour is a shorter version of with “South India Highlights”. Pax on booked that tour will leave others in Kovalam on day 11.

Fitness level:(1) These trips are a normally relaxing break. These trips does not involve any activities which are physically demanding but still need to be in good health as intensive walking is engaged while sightseeing and other optional activities.

Included sightseeing and activities
Cochin- city tour to Dutch palace , Jewish Synagogue and St. Frances Church ; Munnar- excursion to Eravikulam national park and Tea Plantation ; Backwater- boat ride on local boats; Pariyar- boat ride for wildlife sighting.

Optional extras and sightseeing
Cochin- Kathakali dance performance and excursion to Tilipana palace; Munnar- hiking options, Pariyar- short trek in the forest and visit to spice and coffee plantation; Backwater- boat trip and village walk, Kovalam- visit to fishing village.

If you wish to visit a wide range of sites and take part in a variety of optional activities please allow approx US$ 80 per person for the entire tour duration.

Taxi fare INR250)

Single travellers
