A favourite of travellers, the architecturally flamboyant capital of Rajasthan is often referred to as the ‘Pink City’ which specifically applies to the old walled quarter of the city and the exuberant 18th and 19th century palaces scattered throughout the entire city, which was founded in 1727. Enjoy a visit to the City Palace and Jantar Mantar, a medieval astronomical observatory; both of which were built by Jaipur’s founder, Jai Singh and Amber Fort, a Rajput concoction reached by elephant ride (subject to Government regulations and availability).
