What's it like on our Group Tours
Essentially, we offer a flexible but carefully planned holiday,
ideal for the discerning traveller who wants the independence
and personal involvement of exploratory travel, but none of the
hassle and planning that normally go with it.
This may be...
• exploring off-the-road places of interest
• a camel foray into the desert
• an unusual train ride or a unique river journey
• a thrilling wildlife encounter
• spending a few days with local/tribal people in their villages
• the challenge of trekking amongst some of the world's highest
peaks
• visiting ancient historical sites like fort , palaces and
temples
• exploring remote village to get a feel of rural lifestyle
Accommodation & Meals
Decent quality accommodation, in a nutshell. Our view is that
our home away from home is every bit as important as what we
visit and do, and the hotel/room/lodge we search out is designed
to:
• provide a good night's sleep in a clean, comfy environment
• keep us within easy reach of the tour's sites and activities
• think small, local and family-run - rather than huge,
global-branded and impersonal
Our brief is to take you on an adventure tour, and we will
always favour the small, characterful hotel run by a local
family we've known for years. This makes for a more authentic
experience than, say, staying at an anonymous chains hotel; and
it's great to have the chance to meet your hosts over a drink or
a meal. We're also proud to be made welcome and thought of as
responsible travellers who support the local economy. It's a fun
and interesting way of making the best of your tour - and it
makes sense all round. Responsible Tourism, for us, isn't just a
cliché.
What to
expect!
Each tour style is different in character and your home from
home will vary as you go along your itinerary. usually a mixture
accommodation ranging from heritage properties, basic
comfortable hotel, homestays, guesthouses Jungle lodges and
tents, are used. Virtually all rooms are en suite and breakfast
is generally provided. The tour dossier (which you can also
download) will provide specific details for the trip you're
interested in, day by day.
No
penalty for traveling Single !
Traveling on your own is not only possible, it is encouraged
and very much a feature of our Group Holidays. On virtually all
our Group Tours, there's no surcharge for single travellers, who
are twinned up in a double room with another group member of the
same sex and occasionally you may end up with your own room.
Single
Room Suppliment!
If you cherish your own space, this option is available for
a very reasonable surcharge on all our “Discover” tours, on
request. For all other tours this option is not available and
single travelers share the room with someone of the same gender.
Although for independent, short break and “Add-On” tours, it is
compulsory to book a single supplement for all pax traveling
single.
Meals on
Tours!
Our meal arrangements tend to be as flexible
as possible. In most cases, only breakfast is included, allowing
you the freedom to do your own thing and ‘go local’. All our
Tour Leaders have their favorite restaurants and ‘haunts’ and
will often book tables for anyone interested in eating out
together. There will virtually always be a vegetarian option,
albeit simple, on occasions. Whilst camping and traveling in
remote areas, most meals are included, with fresh produce
purchased mainly from local markets where possible.
Transport &
Transfers
All our trips have different objectives. Normally a variety of
transportation is used, usually dictated by the character of the
local terrain, such as:
• Trains
• Private Coach/car
• Local Buses
• Expedition/Safari vehicles
• Native Boats & Ferries
• Bicycles
• Camels
And of course , not to forget travelling on foot.
Arrival Transfers – we provide complimentory arrival
transfers from the airport to the hotel or other joining point
are included (unless specifically stated otherwise). Please
provide your detailed flight details to us or your booking
agents for availing this facility.
Group
Dynamics!
Diverse Group
Many different kinds of people travel with us. They may be 18 or
65 years old, of either sex, alone or with a friend, experienced
travellers or complete beginners, but you can be reasonably sure
that they will share an interest in travel and exploration, and
have a similar attitude of mind. In any group, many participants
are likely to have done a tour with me before.
Our group size
With the aim to provide our travelers with real experience, we
keep our groups size small, with stated minimum and maximum
group sizes. The maximum size varies from 10 to 16, though it is
usually 12. We feel that small groups provide a better social
experience for you, and in many cases are essential to preserve
the integrity of the more remote places that we visit.
Age restrictions
There is no upper age limit but you have to be reasonably fit in
order to participate in various group and optional activities on
our tours. All our group tours are aimed at adult. We do not
accept unaccompanied minors, and a parent or guardian must
accompany anyone under the age of 18.
Fitness Requirements
Our holidays are fun and can be enjoyed by anyone who love
outdoors and is reasonably fit. Our trips are all graded. An
‘easy’ trip is just that; they can be enjoyed by anyone and no
particular level of fitness is required. ‘Moderate’ trips
normally include some moderate physical activities. ‘Moderate
Plus’ trips usually include some trekking. Please refer to “Trip
Style” and “Trip Grade” section for more information.
Choose your Comfort level
We understand that not all travelers are alike and therefore we
have different trip styles ranging from extreme outdoor
adventures to soft cultural adventures that you can chose from.
Please refer “our trip styles” section for more information.
